In a game that lacked both excitement as well as quality, Portugal and Ivory Coast played to a scoreless draw which left much to be desired from both teams. As for Cristiano Ronaldo, it can be said that he showed very little if any of the qualities which has led many to consider him the world’s best player; in a performance which more often than not saw him attempt solo runs that produced very little. Ivory Coast, for its part played on a par with Portugal and perhaps would have won had Drogba not attempted to pass a ball in the penalty box which in all truth he should have shot. This chance coming very late in the game which would have given Ivory Coast a win yet as it stands they got their first point in their world cup history.
In conclusion, I would say the game’s results was fair yet should make the upcoming matches for both teams all the more important; as their qualification will depend on what they can do against both North Korea and Brazil.
